AXON shock drones pause on Taser drones in schools!

 

Axon, the police-contracting giant, has put its plans to install Taser drones in school ceilings on hold following a mass resignation of its advisers.

The proposal, which would have seen the drones pre-installed in school ceilings so an officer could launch one within seconds of a reported shooting, was met with criticism from the advisers who said it was a crackpot dystopian fantasy that could militarize schools and get children killed.

Axon has since released a statement saying that it is no longer pursuing the project.

The Idea is great it just needs to have time to grow.

We need to be able to taser the bad guys from the safety of our own stations. Drones are the future, but we must not rush into this. We need to do more research and make sure that this is the best course of action before moving forward. Safety of children and the protection of the guys in Blue should be at the top of our mind. Let's not turn our schools into fortresses. We can find a way to make this work without making our schools look like they are under siege.
